Bio
Recruited from the Richmond VFA club, Jim Paternoster arrived at Fitzroy in 1901 as the elder half of a sibling double-act alongside his brother, Matt. While his younger brother managed to hit the scoreboard during his own brief career, Jim’s time at Brunswick Street was characterized by a struggle to cement a permanent place in the lineup, resulting in just seven senior appearances without a goal. His VFL journey was ultimately limited to that solitary season, though he would later go on to serve with the 6th Battalion during the First World War.
