Bio
Making his senior debut as a teenager late in the 1949 season, Jim Rattray was a lightly-built rover and utility who fought hard for opportunities during a lean era for the Hawthorn Football Club. Standing just 175cm, he was often up against larger opponents but maintained his place on the list for four seasons, frequently alternating between the senior side and the reserves, where he was a consistent performer. While his senior appearances were sporadic, Rattray was notably part of the lineup for the Hawks' thrilling one-point victory over Fitzroy at Brunswick Street in 1951, one of the few high points for the club during that period. He played his final VFL game in 1952, departing with 18 games and four goals to his name before leaving the top level.
