Bio
Recruited from the small Western District town of Orford, Jim Roberts faced the unenviable task of breaking into a Geelong side at the absolute peak of its powers. Arriving at Kardinia Park in 1953, fresh off the club's back-to-back premierships, the lightly built utility found senior opportunities scarce amidst a star-studded lineup. Standing 180cm, Roberts was primarily used as a depth player to cover injuries in defence or along the wings, managing just 21 appearances across four seasons as he battled to unseat established premiership heroes. While he never quite cemented a permanent spot in the 22, his tenure coincided with one of the strongest eras in the club's history before he departed at the end of the 1956 season.
