Bio
Recruited from VFA mainstay Brunswick, James "Jim" Schellnack arrived at South Melbourne midway through the 1904 season with a solid reputation from the association ranks. Before making the step up to the VFL, he famously featured in a Brunswick lineup that included future Prime Minister John Curtin on a half-forward flank. Schellnack made an immediate impact in front of the big sticks, booting six goals in his seven senior appearances for the Southerners. Despite showing promise as a scoring option, his tenure at the elite level was brief, restricted to just that single winter campaign before he drifted out of the league spotlight.
