Bio
Hailing from Geraldton, Jim Sewell arrived at Footscray as a decorated mature-age recruit after a stellar career with East Fremantle in the WAFL, where he was a 1979 premiership player and an inaugural State of Origin representative. Joining the Bulldogs in 1983, he brought vital experience to a developing list, proving his versatility by starting his VFL tenure as a key defender before shifting forward to utilise his strong overhead marking ability. Sewell became a fixture in the senior side during the club's mid-80s resurgence under Mick Malthouse, famously booting two goals in the 1985 Preliminary Final loss to Hawthorn. He retired after the 1986 season and later transitioned into administration, serving as the football manager for the Brisbane Bears.
