Bio
Recruited from Milawa in the Ovens & King Football League, Jim Slater was a country footballer who earned a brief trial with Carlton during the 1905 season. He made his debut against Geelong at Princes Park in Round 5, holding his spot for just a month of senior football before falling out of the rotation. Unable to secure a permanent place in a Blues side that was building toward its first premiership era, Slater returned to the north-east of Victoria where he enjoyed significant success at the local level. He resumed his career in the Ovens & King competition, eventually becoming a key player in Moyhu’s back-to-back premiership sides in 1910 and 1911.
