Bio
Arriving at St Kilda with a premiership pedigree, Jim Stewart was recruited from North Melbourne's formidable VFA dynasty, where he had featured in the 1903 and 1904 flag-winning sides. Although heavily pursued by Carlton, he initially opted for the Saints in 1905, establishing himself as a versatile contributor who could operate through the centre or drift forward. He found his best form on a half-forward flank, topping St Kilda's goalkicking in both 1907 and 1908, a period highlighted by a then-club record seven-goal haul against Geelong at Corio Oval. After leaving the Saints to return to North Melbourne for the 1911 season, Stewart eventually made his way to Carlton—the club that had originally chased his signature—for a final league swansong in 1912.
