Bio
Recruited from Golden Point in the Ballarat Football League, Jim Veal was a diminutive rover who arrived at Melbourne during the club's resurgence in the mid-1920s. He made his senior debut in Round 4 of the 1926 season, breaking into a powerful lineup that would go on to secure the premiership and end a 26-year flag drought. Standing just 170cm, Veal managed three appearances during that historic campaign but found it difficult to cement a regular spot in a midfield brigade led by the legendary Ivor Warne-Smith. He returned for a single match against South Melbourne early in the 1927 season before finishing his brief VFL career, remaining a depth player on the fringe of a premiership-winning era.
