Bio
Hailing from North Ballarat, Jim Walton was an imposing ruckman who made an immediate impression at Punt Road after debuting in Round 1, 1954. Standing 188cm, he quickly adapted to the rigours of VFL football, earning Richmond’s Best First Year Player award in his debut season. Although his senior career was brief, Walton departed on a high note as a member of the Tigers' 1955 Reserves premiership side before returning to the bush. He subsequently cemented a legacy as a Ballarat Football League great—winning multiple best and fairest awards and serving as a league administrator—while continuing to serve Richmond as a regional recruiting officer during the 1960s.
