Bio
Recruited from local side Windsor Juniors, James "Jim" Warne stepped into the fray for St Kilda during the club's arduous initiation into the VFL. He made his senior debut midway through the 1898 season against Fitzroy, earning a consistent run of games in a lineup that was famously uncompetitive during the league's infancy. Warne held his place for the remainder of that year, managing to snag a goal, but found opportunities scarce the following season as the Saints continued to struggle at the foot of the ladder. Unable to cement a long-term position at Junction Oval, he was cleared to VFA club Prahran in May 1900, continuing his football journey in the association after a brief stint at the top level.
