Bio
Recruited from Geelong West, Jim Wills experienced the ultimate football high in his debut VFL season, cementing a spot as a half-forward flanker in the Cats' 1937 premiership side. He was a significant contributor in that Grand Final victory over Collingwood, gathering 18 kicks on the big stage, but found it difficult to hold a regular place in the senior lineup over the following years. After missing the entire 1939 season and adding just a handful of games to his tally, his league career was effectively ended by the Second World War when he enlisted in the Royal Australian Armoured Corps in 1941. While his time at the top level was brief, Wills remains enshrined in Geelong history as a premiership player who delivered during the club's golden run of the late 1930s.
