Bio
Recruited from Wonthaggi in the Gippsland region, Jim Wilson joined Melbourne for the 1952 season just as the club was entering the transformative Norm Smith era. A capable forward who could also rotate through the play, Wilson demonstrated a keen eye for the goals, maintaining a respectable strike rate during his limited opportunities at VFL level. Despite showing promise in front of the big sticks, he found it difficult to secure a regular place in a Demons side that was steadily building toward its mid-1950s dynasty. His tenure at the top level was ultimately brief, concluding after the 1953 season as he struggled to hold his spot against stiff competition in the Melbourne forward line.
