Bio
Recruited from North Hobart in the Tasmanian Football League, Jim Wright arrived at Kardinia Park with a reputation as a dangerous goal-kicker, highlighted by a five-goal haul in the Demons' 1969 State Grand Final victory over Launceston. A solid 180cm utility who could operate as a half-forward or midfielder, he possessed the frame to win his own ball and an eye for the goals in his home state. However, Wright found it difficult to translate his prolific Tasmanian form to the VFL, managing just five majors across 20 senior games over three seasons with Geelong. Unable to secure a regular spot in the Cats' lineup, he returned to North Hobart, where he cemented his legacy as a key figure in the club's 1974 premiership side.
