Bio
Recruited from the Regent Scouts, Jim Wynd carved out a respectable career as a gritty rover and wingman for Fitzroy during the club's tumultuous final decade. Making his debut in 1986, he was immediately thrust into the intensity of finals football as the Lions made a memorable run to the preliminary final in his rookie season. While the club faced crippling financial instability that saw many star players forced elsewhere, Wynd remained a loyal staple of the side, becoming a key figure in a playing group defined by its resilience and self-reliance in the face of adversity.
A consistent ball-winner who could drift forward and hit the scoreboard, Wynd provided essential drive through the midfield for nearly a decade. He was often tasked with doing the unglamorous work to support high-profile teammates like Paul Roos and Gary Pert, accumulating 137 games in the maroon and blue. He departed the AFL at the end of 1994 as a highly respected clubman who had given his all during Fitzroy's hardest years, later continuing his football journey with Central District in the SANFL.
