Bio
Recruited from the Boroondara Football Club, Jimmy O'Brien broke into the Essendon lineup for the opening round of the 1905 season and immediately held his spot for the first seven weeks. The Port Melbourne-born teenager featured in early-season victories over Geelong and South Melbourne but was unable to trouble the scorers during his brief stint in the senior side. He missed the Round 8 win over Carlton before returning for a final appearance against Fitzroy in Round 9, with his VFL career concluding after just eight games. O'Brien played no further part in Essendon's campaign, which saw the club reach the semi-finals later that year.
