Teams

Recruited from VFA heavyweights Port Melbourne, Jimmy Rudd joined Footscray midway through their historic maiden VFL season in 1925. A lightly-built utility weighing just 67kg, he was brought in to bolster the squad's depth as the club acclimatised to the superior standard of league football. Rudd made 10 senior appearances in his solitary season at the Western Oval, operating primarily as a defensive flanker who relied on movement rather than physical strength. He returned to the Borough for the start of the 1926 season where he resumed a solid VFA career, and later served with the RAAF during the Second World War.
