Bio
Recruited from Ballarat, Jock O'Brien was a centreman who played three seasons for North Melbourne during the late 1950s and early 1960s. He established himself in the senior lineup immediately upon arrival but found opportunities limited by his third season, spending much of 1961 in the seconds where his dominant form earned him the Gardiner Medal as the reserves grade's best and fairest player. Following his time at Arden Street, O'Brien moved to Tasmania to play for Ulverstone in the NWFU before extending his career in South Australia, where he became a foundation player for Central District in their inaugural SANFL campaign.
