Honours

Recruited from local side East Geelong, Jockie Jones was a diminutive but sharp rover who made an immediate impression at league level, winning the club's Best and Fairest award in his debut season of 1920. Standing just 171cm, he possessed a keen goal sense for a small man and maintained a healthy scoring strike rate throughout his time at Corio Oval. Despite his early individual success, his career is often defined by a cruel twist of fate during the club's historic 1925 premiership run; after featuring in the semi-final, Jones was omitted from the Grand Final side, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as his teammates secured Geelong's first VFL flag. He returned to play a final handful of games the following season before retiring.
