Bio
Recruited from Brunswick City, Joe Evans was a serviceable half-forward and centreman who broke into the Essendon lineup during the early years of World War II. He became a regular fixture in the 1941 season, playing 16 games and featuring in the Grand Final loss to Melbourne. Despite showing promise as a creative link player in the Bombers' midfield rotation, his time at the top level was cut short after just three seasons, with a severe knee injury forcing him into premature retirement in 1942.
