Bio
Recruited from Claremont with pick 44 in the 2023 National Draft, Joe Fonti is a dashing medium defender known for his elite speed and intercept marking. The cousin of AFLW star Ella Roberts, Fonti originally played as a midfielder before shifting to defence in his draft year, where his athletic traits and rebound ability caught the eye of Giants recruiters. He broke into the senior side late in 2024, making his debut in a gritty win over Carlton, before cementing his spot as a regular in 2025. After earning a Rising Star nomination in round 20 of his second season, Fonti has quickly established himself as a vital link in the Giants' transition game, using his pace to break lines and launch attacks from the back half.
