Stats
Bio
A local product born in South Melbourne, Joe Larkin made a brief foray into VFL football with his home club during the 1908 season. Recruited from the local ranks, the teenager was granted a two-game trial in the senior side but found it difficult to break into a settled Bloods lineup that played finals the previous year. While his career at the elite level was limited to that solitary season without registering a goal, Larkin eventually found greater continuity in the VFA, re-emerging several years later as a consistent contributor for Hawthorn (then Hawthorn City). He played 28 games for the Mayblooms across the 1914 and 1915 seasons before the association suspended play due to the First World War.
