Bio
A recruit from the Bendigo Football League powerhouse Eaglehawk, Joe "Boxer" Rowe arrived at Richmond in 1924 as a versatile ruck-rover and half-back flanker. The older brother of future North Melbourne forward Claude Rowe, he broke into the Tigers' senior side for a brief two-game stint early in the season, debuting against Geelong and slotting a goal. However, he was unable to secure a permanent spot in Dan Minogue’s competitive lineup and returned to the country shortly after. Rowe went on to become a local legend in the Bendigo region, amassing over 160 games between Eaglehawk and Sandhurst before transitioning into umpiring after his retirement.
