Bio
Originally hailing from the coastal Victorian town of Queenscliff, Joe Stephens arrived at the Junction Oval via a nomadic apprenticeship through the VFA. After serving stints with North Melbourne, Williamstown, and Preston in the Association, he was cleared to St Kilda just prior to the 1911 season. A mature recruit at 23, Stephens immediately slotted into the senior lineup, holding his spot for the first eight consecutive matches of the year and chipping in with two goals. However, his tenure at the elite level was brief; he lost his place in the side following a Round 8 loss to Collingwood and finished his VFL career with just the single season to his name.
