Bio
Recruited from East Devonport in Tasmania, John Anthony was a tall teenage prospect who arrived at Moorabbin for the 1972 season. Standing 191cm, he possessed the physical attributes of a key position player or ruckman and earned his senior debut as an 18-year-old late in the year. He managed three appearances for the Saints, experiencing victory in two of them, but struggled to establish a permanent foothold in the senior lineup. His VFL career remained confined to that single winter, leaving him as one of the many young interstate talents who had a brief taste of elite football before moving on.
