Bio
A diminutive rover recruited from Ringwood via Heathmont, John Carpenter spent the late 1960s pushing for selection at Windy Hill. While his senior opportunities were limited to a brief two-game cameo late in the 1969 season—where he managed to snag a goal—Carpenter was a dominant force at the lower level, capping off that same year by winning the Bombers' Reserves Best and Fairest and Most Improved Player awards. Despite his prolific form in the seconds, the 177cm small man was unable to cement a permanent spot in the senior lineup and departed the VFL the following year to join McLeod-Rosanna in the Diamond Valley Football League.
