Stats
Bio
Recruited from the local Richmond YCW side, John Claxton was a half-forward flanker who experienced his greatest success at Tigerland in the lower grades. While he managed 15 senior appearances across the 1955 and 1956 seasons—averaging more than a goal a game—he was arguably a more significant figure in the club's seconds, playing in back-to-back reserves premierships in 1954 and 1955. Unable to cement a long-term spot in the senior lineup, he left Punt Road to play a season with East Launceston in Tasmania before returning to Victoria for a four-year stint with Port Melbourne in the VFA.
