Bio
Recruited from Shepparton in the Goulburn Valley, John Dalgleish was a versatile utility who arrived at Arden Street for the 1960 season. Standing 184cm, he possessed the height to compete in the air and was immediately blooded in the senior side, making his VFL debut in the opening round against Melbourne at the MCG. He held his spot for the first six games of his debut year but found it difficult to cement a permanent role in the starting lineup, adding just three more appearances early in the 1961 season. After nine senior games and a solitary goal, his brief stint at the top level concluded, marking him as a capable country recruit who earned his stripes but couldn't quite establish a long-term career in the city.
