Bio
Recruited from Geelong College and the Geelong Amateurs, John Davies was a local product who graduated to the senior VFL list in 1966. Standing 183cm, he operated primarily as a versatile half-forward capable of hitting the scoreboard, booting 25 goals across his four seasons at Kardinia Park. While he proved a serviceable contributor, Davies struggled to cement a regular spot in a powerful Geelong side, managing only limited appearances during the club's run to the 1967 Grand Final. He eventually departed the VFL for the Australian Capital Territory, where he carved out a successful post-playing career as captain-coach of Ainslie, leading the club to the 1970 CANFL premiership before his premature death in 1986.
