Bio
Originally from Narrandera in the Riverina district of New South Wales, John Durnan was a small defender who commenced his VFL career with Geelong. He managed just a solitary senior appearance for the Cats in early 1979 before finding his path to regular selection blocked by a strong lineup. seeking greater opportunities, Durnan crossed to St Kilda the following season, where he found a niche in the back half for a struggling Saints outfit. He added 21 games to his tally over three active playing seasons at Moorabbin, serving as a depth player during a lean competitive period for the club before his final senior match in 1982.
