Bio
Recruited from Kew Amateurs in the VAFA, John Fisher arrived at Glenferrie Oval as a mature-age recruit, making his VFL debut in 1968 at 26 years of age. A distinctive figure who wore glasses during his amateur days, he was utilized by the Hawks primarily as a rover and midfield rotation option, providing an experienced body to support the club's developing engine room. Although he found it difficult to command a regular senior spot ahead of emerging stars like Peter Crimmins, playing 26 games over three seasons, he was a member of the Hawthorn side that won the 1968 Night Premiership. Fisher remained a consistent performer at reserve level before departing the VFL scene at the conclusion of the 1970 season.
