Stats
Bio
Recruited from neighboring VFA club Brunswick, John "Frank" Fitzgerald was a diminutive rover who earned a brief opportunity with Fitzroy during the 1926 season. Standing at just 160cm, he was exceptionally light-framed even for the era, relying on his agility and crumbing instincts to contest possession against larger opponents. He managed three consecutive appearances in the middle of the year, debuting against Geelong before facing Melbourne and Essendon, but was unable to impact the scoreboard or secure a permanent position in the Maroons' lineup. Following his short stint in the League, Fitzgerald returned to the Association to continue his playing days, later serving in New Guinea with the Australian Army during the Second World War.
