Bio
Recruited from the Riverina town of Marrar, John Fox was a tall utility who offered Geelong significant versatility across the wing and half-back lines. Standing 188cm, he possessed the size of a key position player but operated effectively as a mobile flanker, breaking into the senior side as a regular during the 1962 season. Despite his promise, Fox found himself on the fringes during the club's dominant 1963 premiership run, managing only five games that year and ultimately missing out on the Grand Final victory over Hawthorn. He showed resilience to reclaim his spot the following season, playing consistent football throughout 1964 and 1965 before departing the VFL to captain-coach Lismore in Victoria's Western Plains.
