Bio
Recruited from Parkmore via the local zoning system, John Georgiou burst onto the scene as one of the modern era's youngest debutants, pulling on the St Kilda jumper at just 16 years of age while still completing Year 11. A pacey and skilful half-forward with quick hands, he enjoyed a charmed start to his career, with the Saints winning all seven matches he played during his debut 1992 season. However, injuries and the intense physical demands of the top level stalled his progress, restricting him to just nine more appearances over the next three years before he was delisted. Georgiou subsequently found significant success in state league football, first with Norwood in the SANFL and later as a star for Frankston in the VFL, where he won the prestigious J.J. Liston Trophy in 1999 and earned selection in the Greek Team of the Century.
