Bio
Selected by the Brisbane Bears with the number one pick in the 1991 National Draft, John Hutton arrived in the AFL as a prolific mature-age scorer from Claremont. Instantly recognizable by his protective helmet, he made an immediate impact by booting eight goals against Geelong in his debut season, though he was traded to Sydney the following year where he managed only five appearances. A natural full-forward capable of strong leads and high scoring bursts, Hutton returned to his home state to join Fremantle's inaugural list in 1995. While he famously kicked eight goals against the Swans in the Dockers' first season, he ultimately struggled to find consistency at the elite level, retiring as a journeyman cult hero who provided memorable highlights across three clubs in a short span.
