Bio
Recruited from the Lincoln Stars in the Essendon District Football League, John Joiner was a diminutive utility who earned his shot with North Melbourne in 1955. Standing just 173cm and weighing 67kg, he was exceptionally light even for his era, typically operating as a small defender or wingman where his lack of size was less of a liability. He managed 11 senior appearances across two seasons for the Shinboners, battling to cement a spot in a side that hovered in the middle of the ladder. Joiner departed the VFL scene at the conclusion of 1956 without kicking a goal, remembered as a local product who briefly stepped up to the highest level.
