Bio
A product of the Magpies' own development pathway, John Knox rose through the ranks at Victoria Park after featuring in the club’s 1960 Under-19 premiership side. Standing 183cm, he was a serviceable defender who broke into the senior lineup in Round 4, 1962, quickly establishing himself as a reliable option in the back half. While primarily tasked with stopping opposition forwards, he managed to drift forward enough to snag six goals during his three-season tenure. Unable to cement a long-term position in the senior side, Knox departed the VFL at the end of 1964 to pursue a leadership opportunity in country football, signing on as captain-coach of Yarrawonga in the Ovens & Murray Football League.
