Bio
Selected by Adelaide with pick 8 in the 2004 National Draft, John Meesen arrived at West Lakes as a promising athletic ruckman from the Geelong Falcons. Despite his high draft status, he found it difficult to break into a deep Crows ruck division that included Matthew Clarke and Rhett Biglands, managing just two senior appearances in three seasons. Seeking greater opportunity and a return to Victoria, Meesen was traded to Melbourne at the end of 2007. However, his time with the Demons was heavily disrupted by persistent foot injuries which prevented him from showcasing his running capacity, limiting him to just four games over three years. Unable to maintain fitness or establish himself as a consistent AFL player, he was delisted at the conclusion of the 2010 season.
