Bio
Recruited from the VAFA, John Morgan was a standout performer for Old Scotch Collegians who earned a brief VFL opportunity with Melbourne in 1973. A key figure in Scotch College's back-to-back premierships in the late 1960s, the tall forward had dominated the amateur ranks with his goal-kicking before making his senior debut against Fitzroy at the Junction Oval in Round 4. He managed three consecutive games early in the season and was recalled for a final appearance in Round 17 against Collingwood, but he failed to register a goal during his stint at the top level. Morgan departed the Demons after just one season to return to Old Scotch, where he cemented a legacy as one of the club's greatest players, winning a VAFA B Section Best and Fairest, playing in two premierships, and eventually earning selection in the club's Team of the Century.
