Bio
Recruited from the Mildura Imperials in the Sunraysia Football League, John O'Keefe was a country prospect who arrived at Princes Park for the 1959 season. Standing 180cm with a light frame, he operated primarily as a utility or flanker but found it difficult to break into a Carlton side that was pushing for finals action. He managed four senior appearances in his debut year and added another six games in 1960, drifting forward to kick the only three goals of his career. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the starting twenty, O'Keefe's brief stint in the VFL concluded after two seasons, leaving him as one of the many regional talents who tested their skills at the elite level before departing the league.
