Bio
Recruited from the Beverley Hills junior football club, John Peter-Budge was thrown into the deep end of league football, making his senior debut for St Kilda as a 17-year-old in 1986. A lightly-framed winger who could push forward and hit the scoreboard, he became a regular fixture in the Saints' lineup during a bleak period for the club, enduring a difficult initiation that saw him play in frequent heavy defeats at Moorabbin. Despite showing promise as a running player with decent goal sense, he fell out of favour after the 1989 season and was eventually delisted. He was thrown a lifeline by Richmond with a late pick in the 1990 National Draft and later spent a season on Hawthorn's list in 1992, but he was unable to crack the senior side at either club, leaving his four-season stint at the Saints as the sole chapter of his AFL career.
