Bio
Recruited from Leopold, John Pike was a fringe player who managed a brief senior stint with Essendon during the 1913 VFL season. He broke into the lineup for the Round 2 clash against Melbourne and held his spot for a month, contributing to three consecutive victories before a loss to Fitzroy. Despite the promising start to his tenure at East Melbourne, Pike was omitted following that Round 5 defeat and was unable to force his way back into a strong squad that went on to contest the Grand Final. He finished his VFL career with just four games and no goals, leaving the league without managing to secure a long-term position in the senior side.
