Bio
Recruited from Newcastle City in New South Wales—an unconventional pathway for VFL players in the 1970s—Preen was a tall half-forward who offered a marking target in attack. Standing 187cm, he played 32 senior games over four seasons at Kardinia Park, often serving as a depth player for the Cats' forward line. His most significant contribution to the club came in the reserves, where he starred in the 1975 Reserves Grand Final; Preen booted a game-high four goals in the premiership victory over Richmond, securing silverware for the club during a difficult era for the senior side. He departed Geelong at the conclusion of the 1977 season.
