Bio
Recruited from Murrumbeena, John Richmond was a versatile key position prospect who rotated between ruck-rover and centre half-forward during his brief stint at Punt Road. While he was a member of the Tigers' 1962 Night Series premiership side, he initially struggled to cement a regular spot in the senior 22, finally breaking out in 1964 with 13 games and 14 goals. Following that season, Richmond crossed Bass Strait to join Clarence in the TFL, where he transformed from a fringe VFL player into a Tasmanian football legend. A strong mark and magnificent drop kick, he went on to win the prestigious William Leitch Medal as the league's best and fairest in 1967, captained Clarence to a premiership, and represented Tasmania at the 1969 Adelaide Carnival.
