Bio
Recruited from Box Hill Technical School, John Ritchie was a determined half-back flanker who worked his way through the Richmond grades to earn his senior opportunities. While he managed 40 games at the top level, his greatest influence came in the club's seconds, where he was a key figure in the 1955 reserves premiership side. Ritchie went on to captain the reserves and claim their best and fairest award the following season, even earning selection for the VFL Reserves representative team. Despite this strong standing at the club, his career was cut short when he was forced to hang up the boots at just 25 years of age due to injury.
