Bio
John Rombotis was a talented utility whose promising junior form translated into a turbulent journeyman career across three clubs in just six seasons. Originally drafted by Fitzroy with pick 23 in the 1994 National Draft, he became a regular fixture in the Lions' lineup during their heartbreaking final season in 1996, often playing as a midfielder or half-forward. Following the club's merger with Brisbane, Rombotis re-entered the draft pool and was rated highly enough for inaugural club Port Adelaide to secure him with pick 6 in the 1996 National Draft. Despite the high price tag, he struggled to settle in South Australia and managed only nine games in the Power's debut season before being traded to Richmond in exchange for established Tiger Chris Naish. His time at Punt Road was marred by persistent injuries and inconsistent form, restricting him to just 13 appearances over three years before he was delisted at the end of the 2000 season.
