Bio
Recruited from East Malvern, John Ronaldson was a towering ruckman and forward pocket who carved out a unique place in Richmond history during the Tom Hafey era. Standing 196cm, he was a giant for the time, capable of relieving in the ruck or providing a dangerous marking target in attack. His career is best defined by his performance in the 1967 Grand Final, where he booted three goals, including two critical majors in the dying stages to seal the premiership against Geelong—one of them a memorable drop-kick from the Members' wing. A dual premiership player having also featured in the 1969 triumph, Ronaldson retired from VFL football at just 24 due to work commitments, eventually continuing his career in the SANFL with South Adelaide and later becoming a decorated figure in the EFL with Vermont.
