Bio
The son of former Richmond player Maurie Sheahan, John Sheahan was a pacy wingman and half-forward recruited from East Ballarat who played his VFL football in two distinct stints. After breaking into the senior lineup as a teenager in 1962, he departed for a successful tenure with Sandringham in the VFA, where his form warranted selection in the Association's representative side in 1964. He returned to Punt Road the following season but found it difficult to cement a permanent senior spot during the dawn of the Tom Hafey era, eventually closing his time at the club as a member of the 1966 Reserves premiership team. Sheahan subsequently moved to the Sunraysia Football League, where he established himself as a country football legend, kicking over 600 goals across a long career with Red Cliffs, Mildura, and Werrimull.
