Bio
Recruited from Sturt in the SANFL, John Tilbrook arrived at Melbourne with a formidable reputation having already played in four premierships during the Double Blues' golden era. A versatile key position player capable of operating at either end of the ground, he settled primarily as a forward in the VFL, utilizing his strong overhead marking and reliable kick to contribute 59 goals across his tenure. While his time in Victoria was relatively brief compared to his extensive SANFL achievements, he provided a mature, experienced option for the Demons during the early 1970s before eventually returning to South Australia to captain-coach South Adelaide.
