Bio
Recruited from Gunbower in northern Victoria, John Toll was a solid utility who arrived at Melbourne after initially receiving an invitation to train with Carlton. He broke into the senior lineup early in the 1967 season, making his VFL debut against Geelong in Round 2, but his career at the top level was ultimately limited to just two appearances. Unable to secure a permanent place in the side, he was cleared back to his home club in 1968, continuing a family connection that saw his brother, Greg, also trial with the Demons during the 1964 pre-season without registering a senior game.
