Bio
Born in Port Adelaide, Johnny Davis was a South Australian recruit who crossed the border to join South Melbourne during the league's formative years. He operated primarily as a forward, displaying an eye for the posts with a respectable haul of six goals in eight games during his debut 1898 season. While he provided a handy avenue to goal for the Bloods, his time at the elite level proved short-lived, with Davis adding just two more senior appearances in 1899 before his VFL career came to a close.
